American Express introduced One in September 2005. One-percent of all spending on the Card is deposited into a High-Yield Savings Account with an APY of ~5.0% (that's high!). Cardmembers have access to this money whenever they want, and can accelerate the 1% savings by depositing additional funds and setting up automatic deposits.
I was on the team that designed the entire secure Cardmember online experience over the course of five months. Users are able to view their Card and bank account activity, make deposits and withdrawals online, as well as download earning statements and assign joint account holders. As the senior interaction designer on the project, I was responsible for designing the 52-page site – using site maps, wireframes, functional and presentation specifications to document the user experience. I also managed an extensive requirements document from American Express to ensure we were meeting all business goals.
