Interview with Michael Cunningham

Last Wednesday at exactly 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, approximately 30 college students nationwide called a toll-free number and were connected to the home phone of Michael Cunningham. Cunningham is the author of the Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Hours, which has been adapted into a film of the same name starring Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, and Meryl Streep. The students, all writers for their respective college newspapers, had 45 minutes to interview the author who 10 minutes into the conversation admitted he was standing in his kitchen smoking a cigarette.
